About

Hi, I'm Dave. I'm a product designer working on enterprise digital platforms. Four years in-house at Mitutoyo, the industry leader in precision measurement, where I own the main site, the marketing platform, and the product information system behind them across the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Outside of work, I'm usually studying competitive esports metas or deep-diving into epic fantasy books.

Mobile-First Smart Home Dashboard

Smart home apps hide the numbers to avoid clutter. I went the other way and made the density readable instead: one card format across air, water, gas, and energy, safe ranges drawn inside every graph so a reading like 450ppm means something without a lookup, and wear tracked by usage rather than a calendar reminder.

Modular Crypto Trader with Risk Analysis

I knew nothing about crypto trading going in and treated that as an advantage, auditing platforms without inherited habits. What came out is a single workspace where charting, whale tracking, and risk controls sit together, and where automation gets built by stacking IF/THEN blocks instead of writing scripts.

E-Sports League Rebrand & Tournament Platform

I rebuilt the APL identity and the tournament platform it lives on: schedules, brackets, and live standings, every match two clicks from the homepage. The weekly timeline doubles as a sponsor-facing view of league activity. The season after launch drew the league's first international teams and two sponsors covering operating costs.

A Bit about me

01.

Scope

I own three web properties across the US, Canada, and Mexico: the corporate site, the marketing platform, and the product information system feeding both. I also run in-product messaging inside the customer and distributor portals. The work spans research and structure through to what ships.

02.

Precision as a constraint

Four years designing for a company that measures to the micron, where precision is the product, literally. Industrial data is dense by nature and the users are specialists. My job is making it legible without stripping out what the specialists came for.

03.

Two backgrounds

A BFA in graphic design and a computer science background. The first is why layouts, spacing, and typography hold up. The second is why I can sit in a technical conversation, understand the constraint I'm being handed, and design something that can actually be built.

04.

Evidence over instinct

I own accessibility, SEO, and analytics across every property, which means I see how decisions perform after they ship. Search behavior shapes information architecture. Accessibility is a requirement I build against rather than a review step at the end. I would rather be corrected by data than defend a preference.

IN-HOUSE

The work that isn't on this page

Four years at Mitutoyo, the industry leader in precision measurement. I own three web properties across the US, Canada, and Mexico: the corporate site, the marketing platform, and the product information system feeding both. I run in-product messaging inside the customer and distributor portals, and I own accessibility, SEO, and analytics across all of it.

Most of it is internal and stays offline. The process, the decisions, and the reasoning I am happy to walk through in detail.
